Wild Green: Top 5 Photos of the Week
So many of the birds, reptiles, and fish we see as wild green actually use a combination of yellow and blue pigments and microscopic skin structures.
Despite the effort involved, the fresh and leafy green is a popular color in the animal kingdom.

WEEKLY FEATURE (18 OCT – 24 OCT 2021): WILD GREEN
So the red avadavat, red munia or strawberry finch, is a sparrow-sized bird of the family Estrildidae. It is found in the open fields and grasslands of tropical Asia and is popular as a cage bird due to the colourful plumage of the males in their breeding season.

Attractive small songbird of grasslands, gardens, fields, and agricultural areas. Native to India and Southeast Asia, with introduced populations scattered elsewhere around the world.

The lesser violetear (Colibri cyanotus), also known as the mountain violet-ear, is a medium-sized, metallic green hummingbird species commonly found in forested areas from Costa Rica to northern South America.
So the grey-breasted prinia or Franklin’s prinia is a wren-warbler belonging to the family of small passerine birds found mainly in warmer southern regions of the Old World. This prinia is a resident breeder in the Indian subcontinent, Sri Lanka and southeast Asia.

The Green vine snake is a mildly venomous arboreal colubrid snake native to Central America and northern South America.
But this photo has been photographed in Thirthahalli KARNATAKA WESTERN GHATS.
