Little blue and orange bird with a long, pointed beak is quite lovely. while having brilliant plumage, is often rather quiet and unassuming. Found around lakes, ponds, rivers, streams, and nearly any other freshwater or saltwater environment containing tiny fish. Perches often and silently on trees near water; is most frequently observed flying low and quickly as a flash of turquoise, generally moving away. even if the bird itself is hidden, once its loud, piercing whistled cry is learnt, it is easily identified. spans a large portion of its territory, the lone little blue kingfisher.
