Bird portraits are a popular subject, especially in the winter and spring when they are sporting their finest plumage. With the exception of a couple of species, males don the most colourful plumage, and consequently, they tend to be the target for most photographers.

Indian peafowl are a species in a group of birds called pheasants. The males are called peacocks, while the females are called peahens. Together, they are peafowl.

The greater spotted eagle, occasionally just called the spotted eagle, is a large bird of prey. Like all typical eagles, it belongs to the family Accipitridae. Its feathered legs indicate it as a member of the subfamily Aquilinae, also known as the “booted eagles”.
